The Challenge
Priya Nair launched Bloom Botanicals as a direct-to-consumer skincare brand using plant-based ingredients. After a promising first year with $210,000 in revenue, growth flatlined. The Shopify store had solid products but was invisible in search results, buried under established competitors with massive ad budgets. Priya was spending $4,200 per month on Facebook and Instagram ads with diminishing returns — her customer acquisition cost had climbed to $68 per customer while her average order value was only $52.
Email marketing was nonexistent beyond a basic abandoned cart flow. Priya had a mailing list of 3,400 subscribers collected over 18 months but had never sent a campaign. She knew content marketing could work for her brand but didn't have the expertise or time to create blog posts, guides, or email sequences while also formulating products and managing fulfillment.
Our Solution
SBEC built a content-first growth engine for Bloom Botanicals. We started with a comprehensive content marketing strategy — a blog publishing two SEO-optimized articles per week on topics like 'best natural ingredients for sensitive skin' and 'how to build a plant-based skincare routine.' Each article was designed to capture organic search traffic and funnel readers toward product pages.
Next, we overhauled the email program. A 7-email welcome sequence was built for new subscribers, along with a post-purchase education series, a re-engagement campaign for inactive customers, and a weekly newsletter featuring skincare tips and product spotlights. Automated segmentation ensured customers received content relevant to their skin concerns and purchase history. We also created a content calendar for Instagram and TikTok featuring ingredient education reels and customer transformation stories, reducing reliance on paid ads.
