The Challenge

Derrick Washington built Crown Cuts from a single chair into three barbershop locations across Memphis over eight years, but growth had stalled. The shops had no consistent online presence — each location had a different (outdated) Google listing, zero review management strategy, and no way to book appointments online. Walk-in traffic was declining as younger clients expected digital booking, and negative reviews on one location were dragging down the reputation of the entire brand.

Derrick was also losing clients to national chains that had polished Instagram pages and loyalty apps. His marketing consisted of occasional flyers and word-of-mouth, which wasn't enough to compete in a saturated market. Employee turnover was high because barbers had no visibility into their own performance metrics or client retention numbers.

Our Solution

SBEC implemented a comprehensive digital marketing and reputation management strategy for all three Crown Cuts locations. We unified the brand's online presence by claiming, verifying, and optimizing Google Business Profiles for each shop with professional photos, service menus, and consistent NAP (name, address, phone) data. An automated review request system was deployed — after every appointment, clients received a text prompting them to leave a Google review.

We built a branded website with an integrated online booking system that routed appointments to the correct location and barber. A social media content calendar was launched featuring weekly barbershop transformation videos on Instagram and TikTok, driving organic reach. Finally, SBEC set up a digital loyalty program and a barber performance dashboard so Derrick could track chair utilization and client retention across all locations.
